"Red Thin with Moon" Giclee Print
Untitled - Red thin with moon is red pen on watercolor paper, approximately 12” x 10”. It was created by Amos Lemon in the Spring of 2016 in a period where he was creating many other works with the “thin” people. He captioned one drawing on Instagram #emaciated. Lemon was, himself, always on the thin side, and perhaps bordered on an eating disorder during this period, when he also began other forms of self-harm. These works were done before he had any formal training in figure drawing or anatomy, but as his father says, “Even though they’re wrong, they’re right.” The exaggerated forms have been compared to those of Giacometti sculptures or El Greco paintings, both of which Amos was aware of, and also of the pop culture horror figure, “Slenderman,” whom he had been obsessed with at a younger age. The detail and control of line, especially in difficult-to-draw hands and feet, are especially strong. The isolated moon and red figures are repeated in a large work on canvas from the same period.
The original was photographed in high resolution on a digital large format camera by Simone Associates. This giclee digital print was made on archival paper. Ink will eventually fade in direct sunlight.
ALB Limited Edition merchandise are exclusively available from the Amos Lemon Burkhart estate collection. 100% of all profits are donated. 50% of proceeds go to scholarships for drug and alcohol treatment for young adults, and 50% goes to college art scholarships.
